What is ketamine?

Ketamine is an anesthetic. Although it works on different parts of the brain than classic psychedelics like psilocybin, the experiences on ketamine can feel very similar.

What is KAP?

KAP stands for ketamine assisted psychotherapy. Ketamine opens the door to psychedelic exploration, where the medicine often has a way of organically guiding the client where they need to go. Ketamine can help turn off one’s default mode network by collapsing the psyche’s protective walls and allowing one to enter a non-ordinary state of consciousness. When paired with the structure and support of therapy, clients have the opportunity  to process, understand, and interpret their journey as it is happening with their therapist. KAP can help tackle the root of an issue, negative thought patterns, and traumas. KAP can be beneficial for clients who have struggled with depression, anxiety, trauma, and other mental health challenges.

What does ketamine

feel like?

The effects of the medicine average 45 minutes. While experiences vary, many report feeling “distant” from their body. These effects can facilitate shifts in perception that can often feel expansive in nature. Your motor and verbal abilities may be reduced, so you’ll be lying down in a comfortable position during the experience. Once these effects subside, we’ll spend the remainder of our appointment giving you space to process and discuss your experience. While parts of the experience can be ineffable, clients often end with clear insight.

What is the duration

& frequency of

treatment?

KAP sessions are a minimum of 2 hours. Frequency of medicine sessions are determined by a collaboration between the therapist, client, and the medial prescriber.

What is the KAP Process?

  • A comprehensive evaluation is conducted to understand the client's history, mental health status, and specific issues hoping be addressed.

  • A medical evaluation is conducted to assess ketamine suitability, reviewing any contraindications.

  • Therapist and client discuss process alignment, address concerns, and set intentions for the KAP session.

  • Client self administers ketamine lozenge(s). Therapist provides therapeutic support for the duration of client’s journey,

  • Therapist and client review the memories, thoughts, and insights that arose during the dosing session.

  • Throughout the treatment process, the therapist will continuously assess the client's response to the therapy, making adjustments as necessary to optimize outcomes.
